3 Makeup Tricks Every Makeup Beginner Should Know

If there is one secret that should be cherished in the books of beauty, is how the trick behind wearing makeup is to make it seem as if you aren't wearing any. Overly layered foundations, and extremely pigmented shadows are just a few of the "I don't know what I was thinking" moments you'll regret in the future.

But don't worry, it won't take you years of experience, nor trial an error to learn the do's and don'ts.

Tip #1: Don't trust the light inside the store

Doesn't everything look more sparkly and beautiful inside the store? Many times, the products you apply underneath artificial lighting may not look the same under the sun. Be patient. Apply a small amount of product onto your skin (depending on what it's for) and go outside. There you'll see what the perfect match is.

Tip #2: Learn on what you should invest

Makeup could be pricey, but if there is one product you should most definitely splurge is foundation. This, of course, doesn't entail spending a crazy amount of money. Depending on your skin type, there are affordable foundations which look flawless. One of my favorite ones is L'Oréal's True Dream Cushion. It glides smoothly and blends into subtle glow with decent coverage.

Lastly, there are products which are worth the amount. Sometimes pigmentation and longevity, especially in shadows and liners, can make a difference.

Tip #3: Don't over do it

Always start your makeup with a clean face. Apply moisturizer, SPF and a good primer. Follow with foundation. Conceal any imperfections with a product that's 2 shades lighter than the foundation. Apply blush and matte shadows—these non-glittery pigments may not cause as much fallout.

Think to yourself that it's better to complete a look and notice that you need a little bit more product as opposed to having to remove.
